Overview

Why patients choose this test.

Only five cancers have routine screening tests: breast, colon, cervical, lung, and prostate. Approximately 70% of cancer deaths come from cancers with no recommended screening — pancreatic, ovarian, liver, stomach, esophageal, and many more — which are often advanced by the time they cause symptoms.

The Galleri test, developed by GRAIL, changes that math: it detects a shared cancer signal across more than 50 types of cancer from a single blood draw, and when a signal is found it predicts the most likely tissue of origin to narrow the diagnostic path. When cancer is caught at stage I instead of stage IV, the 5-year survival rate is roughly 4 times higher.

What is the test

What it measures.

A multi-cancer early detection blood test that screens for a shared cancer signal across 50+ types of cancer — including many with no current standard screening protocol. How it works:

  • A single blood draw collects cell-free DNA circulating in your bloodstream
  • Advanced sequencing detects methylation patterns characteristic of cancer
  • If a signal is detected, the test predicts the most likely tissue of origin (the cancer site)

Detectable cancers include those of the pancreas, ovary, liver, stomach, esophagus, bladder, kidney, head and neck, and lymphatic system, among many others. Galleri does not replace standard screenings such as mammograms and colonoscopies — it complements them by covering everything else.

Why get it

Who it's for.

Galleri is recommended for adults at elevated risk of cancer. Strongly consider it if:

  • You are 50 or older (cancer risk rises sharply after 50)
  • You have a personal or family history of cancer
  • You have known genetic risk factors (BRCA, Lynch syndrome, etc.)
  • You have a significant smoking or alcohol history
  • You're building a serious longevity protocol and want the most comprehensive early-detection tool
  • You want peace of mind beyond standard screenings

Early detection is the single biggest variable in cancer survival: caught at stage I before metastasis, 5-year survival is roughly 4 times higher than at stage IV. Galleri is annual, simple, and covers the cancers no one else is looking for.

What to expect

From booking to results.

  • Booking — reserve online and our team confirms your appointment.
  • At your appointment — a 10–15 minute blood draw at our Morristown or Colts Neck, NJ location, or via mobile draw within our service areas. No fasting required.
  • Results — typically available within 2–3 weeks.
  • If no signal is detected — continue standard age-appropriate screenings (mammograms, colonoscopies) and repeat Galleri annually. A negative result is reassuring but doesn't rule out all cancers.
  • If a signal is detected — a True Heal Wellness provider reviews the results, explains the predicted tissue of origin, and helps coordinate the appropriate follow-up workup (imaging, biopsy, specialist referral). A detected signal is the start of a targeted investigation, not a diagnosis.

FAQ

Galleri Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test, answered.

Is the Galleri test FDA-approved?+
Galleri is a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) available by prescription in the United States. It has been clinically validated across multiple large studies and is not currently FDA-approved as a standalone screening test, but is widely used as a complement to standard cancer screening.
How many cancers does the Galleri test screen for?+
More than 50 types of cancer, many of which have no recommended standard screening test.
Does a negative result mean I don't have cancer?+
A negative result means no cancer signal was detected in your sample — reassuring, but not a guarantee. Continue your age-appropriate standard screenings and repeat Galleri annually.
What happens if Galleri detects a cancer signal?+
A detected signal means the test identified DNA patterns consistent with cancer and predicts the most likely tissue of origin. Your provider coordinates a targeted diagnostic workup (imaging, biopsy, specialist evaluation). A detected signal is not a diagnosis, but it gives diagnostic teams a head start.
Does Galleri replace mammograms, colonoscopies, or other screenings?+
No. Galleri complements standard screenings — it does not replace them. Continue all age-appropriate screenings recommended by your physician.
At what age should I start Galleri testing?+
GRAIL recommends Galleri for adults 50 and older or those at elevated risk. Many longevity-focused clients begin earlier, particularly with a family cancer history or known genetic risk variants.
Do I need to fast for the Galleri test?+
No fasting is required.
